Open Days
Our canteen is open three days per week – Monday, Wednesday and Friday. The canteen is located in the closed undercover area.
Our P&C-operated canteen provides a range of healthy lunches and snacks at affordable prices. The canteen is run as a service to our school community, with all profits returned to the P&C to support initiatives and activities that benefit our students.
Most of our items are prepared and baked from scratch in-house. We’re guided by the Department of Education & Training Healthy Food and Drink and ‘Traffic Light’ policy, implemented March 2008 and we regularly update our menu in line with current nutritional guidelines.
Our food license does not allow us to have any raw meat on the premises or to deep fry any food product. We are inspected on a six monthly basis by the Department of Health, so you can rest assured we have your child’s safety at heart.
Canteen Managers are present at every shift, but we could not operate without the help of volunteers. As such, help is needed and appreciated from parents, carers, grandparents, aunts/uncles etc. who are willing to donate their time for canteen duty. It is a great way to meet other parents within the school community and the children always love having you there. If you wish to volunteer, simply come to the canteen or email us at shelleycanteen@gmail.com to find out what’s involved. We welcome any help, whether it is once per term or more! You don’t need to be able to cook!
How to order
ORDERING GUIDELINES
- Please use the current canteen menu when placing orders. If an item is unavailable, substitutions may be made at the canteen manager’s discretion
- Orders must be placed on Qkr! or at the canteen before 9am
- We encourage families to pre-order recess items to ensure their child doesn’t miss out on their favourite choices. Recess items may be purchased directly from the canteen at recess, however, availability cannot be guaranteed.
- Daily specials are only available on the day they are listed on the menu. We are unable to provide daily specials on other days
- Please check your child’s orders to help ensure these ordering guidelines are followed. This helps the canteen run smoothly and supports our wonderful volunteers who give their time to provide this service to our school community.
- If for some reason your order fails to go through on QKR and we are able to supply a recess and/or lunch by request, we ask that you kindly use the “Adjustments” icon on QKR to make the outstanding payment
- Students collect recess orders at the canteen from the room boxes on the tables outside the canteen
- Lunch orders are delivered to the classrooms by lunch monitors
The WA Health Department has recently made it mandatory for everyone who works in a school canteen to complete the following two online courses, both are free and do not need to be completed all in one go.
