From the Principal

Welcome back to all Shelley families. We hope to have a very productive and enjoyable fourth term.

Thanks to the families who supported our open evening. It was great to see so many Shelley families walking through the classrooms and taking an interest in the amazing work we produce.

Innovation at Shelley

Late last term, I had the pleasure of speaking at Edufest WA about the innovation and entrepreneurship projects we engaged with last term. Our junior classes produced some genuinely terrific projects that amazed the educators at Edufest. Our year two classes developed 3-D printed keyrings from bio-degradable plastics to raise money to support Kanyana Wildlife Centre. They raised $260, which will be presented to a representative from Kanyana next month. That was just one of the truly innovative projects our young entrepreneurs developed.

Planning for 2025

Planning has begun for 2025. We anticipate some staff changes and minimal enrolment growth. If your family is planning on moving to another school or likely to be late back from holidays in 2025, please let us know as soon as possible via email at shelley.ps@education.wa.edu.au

Building Upgrade Program

Shelley families will be aware that we have been slowly but steadily upgrading our buildings and facilities over the last three years.

We have installed a fire escape in the Library to increase its capacity and improve safety. The electrical upgrade to B Block has commenced and will be completed by the end of February 2025.

Our new classroom, Room 19, is up and running, and our students love it. Soon we will have a shade sail installed to provide some cover in the summer months.

Meanwhile, Room 18 will have a new floor installed and ready for the start of the 2025 school year.

We hope to have a new outdoor play space installed in the early childhood centre over the Christmas holiday period.
